Leaflet printers to implement customer recycling services?

The green practices used by one award-winning firm could inspire other leaflet printers to become more sustainable.

Leaflet printers may be inspired to become more environmentally friendly, after one company was praised for its sustainable practices.

EAE Leaflets has won the Scottish Thistle Award for Sustainable Tourism in recognition of the way it takes a green approach to every aspect of its business.

The firm's strategies include rewarding eco-friendly clients and a free customer recycling service, which could motivate other leaflet printers to follow suit.

Glen Bennett, managing director of the organisation, said the award "really emphasises the importance of a sustainable and green supply chain".

He urged other companies to "use their buying power to change suppliers' behaviours", insisting it is no longer acceptable to ignore their practices.

EAE Leaflets has already reduced its carbon footprint by 60 per cent and aims to be carbon neutral by 2015.

Recent comments made by Sam Jarvis, head of communications at Waste Watch, may also persuade others to become more sustainable, as he noted consumers are becoming increasingly aware of ethical considerations.
