Edinburgh Festival flyers 'have style'

Edinburgh Festival flyers have been praised for their style.

The flyers and posters advertising this year's Edinburgh Festival acts have been lauded as well-designed and stylish - even works of art in some cases.

Writing for the Independent, Alice Jones claimed the promotional flyers distributed around the Pleasance in the Scottish capital have improved from two years ago to the point where they are no longer "unwanted" side effects of festival season

She said: "There's been a change ... They're eye-catching, well thought-out and some of them are even funny."

Ms Jones identified the leaflets and posters promoting production company The Invisible Dot as "the most beautiful and stylish" of those found throughout the Pleasance this year.

However, according to Edinburgh Festival officials, the number one flyer is the design for the Roundhouse Productions show Lipstick.

It was awarded the top prize for this year's Dupliquick Zebra Award for best poster design, winning £500 in cash and £500 worth of free material printing.
