McDonald's may wish to market new contactless payments with cheap flyers

Cheap flyers might be beneficial for McDonald's as it launches a new payment service.

McDonald's might wish to consider new marketing methods such as cheap flyers following news it will roll out a contactless card payment service this year.

The global brand will become the first fast food chain to do so, according to Marketing Week.

Customers will be able to pay for food and drink costing £15 or less by touching a contactless-enabled card against a wireless reader when the plans are put in place, which McDonald's hopes will be by this summer.

Jill McDonald, president and chief executive of McDonald's UK, said: "We were the first major quick-service restaurant to launch payment by cards and we're delighted to be leading the way again with the rollout of contactless payment technology."

Online retailer ASOS also launched a new marketing initiative recently, detailing plans for a transactional application that will allow consumers to buy its entire stock directly through Facebook, New Media Age reported.
