Royal Mail works to ensure flyers are delivered

The recent snow has prompted Royal Mail to take steps to ensure post deliveries reach recipients as quickly as possible.

Royal Mail has taken steps to ensure deliveries of items - such as direct marketing materials like flyers - continue in the current severe weather conditions.

It has apologised to customers who have seen their post delayed as a result of the snow and ice that has hit parts of the UK over recent days and said it has implemented new measures to help ensure post gets to its destination.

More trucks and rail services are being used to move items around the country and the company noted over 90 per cent of rounds went out yesterday (December 2nd).

"We are continuing to deliver to the vast majority of addresses but, in some cases, it is not possible to do so because of the weather," observed managing director Mark Higson, adding the firm is working to make sure distribution is carried out "as quickly as possible".

In a recent Marketing Week article, media director at Royal Mail Mark Thompson said direct marketing methods such as leaflet printing are likely to be used by many firms over the Christmas period as a way of boosting revenue.
